Key Assessments is a small private practice specializing in the psychological assessment of children and adolescents. We provide comprehensive psycho-educational and social-emotional evaluations to help identify learning disabilities, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, pervasive developmental delays, and emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression. In addition, we also provide kindergarten readiness evaluations and SAT/ACT accommodation testing. Teachers and school counselors are often the first professionals parents talk with regarding their child’s learning, behavior, attention, and emotional well-being. Although sometimes the source of a child’s difficulties are easily identifiable, oftentimes parents report a complex array of problems that point to a number of possible explanations. In addition, co-existing conditions further complicate evaluation. Children want to succeed in school. They want to be happy within the family. Learning difficulties and emotional problems cause more than poor grades. They also contribute to behavioral problems within the classroom and at home. These difficulties can also cause children to become socially isolated or prompt them to seek acceptance from a peer group that is involved in troublesome behavior. This in turn creates more problems at school and at home. Key Assessments is devoted to helping each child and adolescent find their own key to success. By keying into each child’s learning style we can help devise strategies to use an individuals academic strengths to help compensate for weaknesses. We understand how learning difficulties and emotional problems can be intertwined and that early intervention is crucial to ensuring a student’s investment in their education and their future. We can help educators understand how each child learns best. We can also help parents improve their child’s study and organization skills. When needed specific recommendations are made regarding parenting strategies, behavior modification plans, or medical intervention. We provide parents and children with an individualized evaluation that includes a detailed intake interview, comprehensive testing, lengthy interpretative conference, useful and pragmatic recommendations, and referrals to other professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, tutors, psychiatrists, etc.) as needed. We are able to schedule appointments promptly and complete reports in a timely manner. In addition, we have preferred provider status with several major insurance companies. |
